Sephora seeks a Packaging Development Project Manager (CDD) in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. Lead packaging innovation and industrialization for prestige beauty products.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Formula Development teams on new briefs to identify technically and financially viable solutions, advising the creative team on optimal design execution
  • Work closely with Procurement to fulfill Marketing briefs while adhering to cost and gross margin targets
  • Conduct risk assessment studies and provide comprehensive project feasibility analysis, including function, manufacturability, component and tooling costs, timelines, risks, and global consistency considerations
  • Oversee new tooling development, validate technical drawings, and define printing areas
  • Establish homologation plans and execute all necessary testing to validate success criteria
  • Direct aesthetic development initiatives, including color matching and decoration techniques
  • Review and approve artwork files to ensure brand and technical compliance
  • Manage the industrialization phase and attend line trials at contract manufacturer sites to ensure components and finished goods meet quality expectations
  • Collaborate with Quality teams to establish component and finished goods specifications, approve quality standards and range boards
  • Validate tertiary packaging for finished goods and palletization plans
  • Monitor project timelines and provide regular status updates to supervisors and project managers, identifying and implementing mitigation strategies
  • Optimize existing components to improve quality, reduce costs, and enhance sustainability performance
  • Support sustainability programs specifically applied to packaging initiatives

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in technical packaging roles, preferably within the beauty industry
  • Scientific Bachelor's degree in packaging, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated capability to operate effectively in a fast-moving project pipeline environment
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to identify pragmatic, intelligent solutions
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills for verbal and written communication
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Excellent English communication skills

Experience

Minimum 7 years of professional experience in technical packaging roles, ideally within the beauty and prestige cosmetics industry. Demonstrated track record in managing complex packaging development projects from brief conception through industrialization and manufacturing trials.

Education

Scientific Bachelor's degree in packaging, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or another relevant discipline.
