Sephora (San Francisco) seeks a Manager, Competitive Intelligence & Business Analytics — hybrid role leading market and competitive analytics (USD $124k–$151k).
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead competitive intelligence programs: analyze market share, pricing, promotions, and industry performance to generate actionable recommendations for Marketing, Loyalty, Promotions and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership, translating complex analyses into executive-ready narratives and presentations that surface risks, opportunities and growth drivers.
- Monitor the competitive beauty landscape to identify emerging trends, white-space opportunities and shifts in consumer behaviour.
- Partner cross-functionally with Analytics, Merchandising, Omnichannel, Marketing and Loyalty to build a holistic view of business performance and inform strategic planning.
- Manage external vendors, onsite contractors and analytics partners; prioritize projects, allocate workload, and mentor contractors or direct reports where applicable.
- Leverage third-party market measurement tools and competitive research platforms to benchmark Sephora against the total beauty market.
- Drive innovation in reporting and storytelling by identifying opportunities for automation, AI-enabled workflows, dashboard enhancements and improved visualisation.
- Build scalable reporting frameworks and maintain multiple high-priority projects independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, consulting, market research or related function with progressive responsibility.
- Proven track record influencing senior stakeholders (VP-level and above) through clear, data-driven recommendations.
- Direct experience with competitive intelligence, market share reporting, pricing analysis, or beauty industry research tools (e.g., Nielsen, Circana/NPD, IRI).
- Advanced Excel modeling and forecasting capabilities; strong SQL-based data querying skills.
- Excellent presentation and storytelling skills with experience creating executive-ready PowerPoint deliverables.
- Experience with data visualisation platforms such as Tableau (or equivalent) and a demonstrated interest in analytics automation and AI-enabled workflows.
- Experience managing vendors, contractors or direct reports is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Economics, Marketing, Statistics or a related discipline preferred.
