Sephora Canada is hiring an Interim Store Director in Newmarket, ON — fixed-term full-time role leading store operations, sales and team performance.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end leadership for store performance, including client experience, sales, productivity, merchandising, operations and human resources.
  • Forecast sales and payroll with the District Manager; monitor daily, weekly and monthly results and implement corrective actions to achieve sales plans and operating profit targets.
  • Recruit, hire and maintain optimal staffing levels; train, coach and develop department managers and team leads to ensure a high-performing, coaching-led culture.
  • Oversee merchandising and inventory management: conduct inventories, maintain accurate records, and execute strategic planogram and product placement decisions aligned with Sephora concepts.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, operational standards and loss-prevention procedures; manage payroll and expense controls to protect store profitability.
  • Lead and coordinate store-level initiatives to grow business through loyalty program activation, client events, product education and beauty services.
  • Manage relationships with on-site leaders (Talent & Business Operations Managers, Client Experience Managers, Beauty Services Managers) and escalate issues to the District Manager as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of senior management experience in beauty, retail or customer service, with demonstrable results against sales targets and KPIs.
  • Proven ability to recruit, build and coach high-performing retail teams, with a strong commitment to talent development and education.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills with managerial courage to address performance issues and provide candid feedback.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in forecasting, payroll management and expense control.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays; able to perform physical tasks including bending, stretching and lifting up to 50 lbs (≈23 kg).

Experience

Minimum five years in senior retail management within beauty, cosmetics or customer-facing retail, with a proven track record of meeting sales targets, developing leaders and improving store performance.

Education

Post-secondary diploma or degree in business, retail management or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience in retail leadership accepted.

The successful candidate will be located in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, with easy access to Toronto.

Compensation

The base compensation for this position ranges from CAD 82,200 to CAD 102,700 per annum.
