HR Business Partner, Retail at Sephora in San Francisco: support field leadership in strategic HR functions. Remote role based in Bay Area. $125K–$145K annually.
Role & Responsibilities
- Partner with Regional Directors, District Managers, and Store Managers to align HR strategies with business goals, advising on talent decisions, team dynamics, and leadership development
- Lead change management efforts and drive performance management and feedback processes across the retail region
- Conduct talent reviews, succession planning initiatives, promotions, and leadership coaching; facilitate training and development programs
- Manage cyclical HR programs including annual performance reviews, talent calibration, and compensation planning
- Champion workplace culture and lead employee engagement and retention strategies aligned with organizational values
- Analyze HR metrics such as turnover, engagement, and absenteeism to identify trends and support data-driven decision-making
- Conduct and manage employee relations investigations; ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies
- Manage leave of absence and accommodation processes; handle sensitive employee matters with confidentiality and integrity
- Support cross-functional initiatives, process improvements, and special HR projects across the region
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred
- HR certification such as PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred
- Progressive experience in HR Business Partner or generalist roles, preferably within retail or multi-unit environments
- Proven ability to lead through change, influence decisions, and build strong relationships across organizational levels
- Demonstrated proficiency in performance management, succession planning, employee relations, and employment law and compliance
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret HR data, build presentations, and make actionable recommendations
- Ability to operate autonomously, take initiative, and consistently deliver high-quality work while maintaining accountability

Experience
Progressive HR experience in Business Partner or generalist roles, preferably within retail or multi-unit operating environments, with demonstrated expertise in managing HR functions across multiple locations and leadership levels.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred; HR certifications such as PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred.
