About Sephora
Sephora is a global prestige beauty leader, renowned for redefining the retail experience through creativity, inclusivity, and expert service. Founded in France and now part of LVMH, the company brings together an exceptional portfolio of beauty brands with a distinctive culture of discovery and innovation. As an employer, Sephora offers a dynamic, customer-centered environment where talent is encouraged to learn, experiment, and grow across retail, digital, merchandising, operations, and corporate functions. Its teams are united by a passion for beauty, entrepreneurship, and belonging, making Sephora a compelling workplace for professionals seeking impact within a fast-moving international brand.
Sephora’s 10-week, remote software engineering internship runs June 14–August 20, 2027, at 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, aligned with Pacific Standard Time; the intern optional summer shutdown is July 6–9. The learning-focused role emphasizes front-end development with exposure to full-stack concepts, guided product work, mentoring, code reviews, and team collaboration. Target pay is $30 per hour, with the actual offer dependent on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location.
Role & Responsibilities
- Learn and contribute to front-end features using HTML, CSS, JavaScript or TypeScript, and a component-based UI framework such as React.
- Assist, with guidance, in creating reusable UI components, improving responsive behavior, and following established accessibility and coding patterns.
- Pair with experienced engineers and build practical skills by asking questions.
- Observe and assist with simple API integrations to learn how data moves between front-end applications and backend services; backend work is guided and intended for learning rather than independent ownership.
- Participate in code reviews, pairing sessions, and Git-based team workflows; make small code changes, document work, seek feedback, and assist with debugging straightforward issues.
- Learn basic testing practices by adding or updating tests with guidance.
- Shadow engineers to understand how software changes are reviewed, validated, and delivered.
- Participate in team standups, planning sessions, demos, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate respectfully with engineers, product managers, designers, QA, and other partners, sharing progress or questions with support from a mentor and manager.
- Present the project outcome, evidence, lessons learned, and recommended next steps at the internship culmination.
- Demonstrate Sephora values: Passion, Innovation, Expertise, Balance, Respect, Teamwork, and Initiative.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- Foundational programming or scripting experience in Python, Java, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash, or a comparable language.
- Basic understanding of Linux, networking, APIs, Git, cloud computing, containers, or CI/CD concepts through coursework, projects, or prior experience.
- Ability to break down problems, learn unfamiliar technology, document work clearly, and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Interest in AI infrastructure, platform engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, SRE, developer experience, or distributed systems.
- Exposure to one or more cloud platforms, infrastructure-as-code or CI/CD tools, containers, observability concepts, secure software development, or AI/ML platform technologies.
- Graduating in 2027 or 2028 with an undergraduate or graduate degree.
- Work schedule must align with 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.
- Must permanently reside and work in the U.S.
- Must be open to relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area upon graduation for consideration for full-time hybrid positions.
- Available from June 14 to August 20, 2027.
