Sephora Financial Accountant (FTC) opportunity in Sydney, Australia—18-month fixed contract for accounting and reporting specialist.
Role & Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end accounting functions, including General Ledger maintenance for ANZ operations and balance sheet management processes
- Support accurate and timely month-end reporting across Sephora ANZ, including journal review, general ledger activity, accruals, prepayments, and accounting adjustments
- Review financial information, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly P&L results to ensure completeness, accuracy, and data integrity
- Identify unusual transactions, coding issues, variances, risks, and areas requiring further investigation or adjustment
- Prepare Australian BAS and New Zealand GST returns, including reconciliations, supporting schedules, and documentation
- Support external, Group, and internal audit requirements, preparing audit schedules, PBC documentation, reconciliations, and responses to audit queries
- Partner with the Regional Shared Service Centre on General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable processes to support accurate month-end close
- Review balance sheet accounts, reconciling items, and transaction coding to ensure accurate recording and correct reporting periods
- Analyse expenditure, variances, cost trends, cash flow forecasts, and capital expenditure against approved budgets and forecasts
- Provide historical data, financial analysis, and supporting information to assist with forecasting and actual versus budget/forecast reviews
- Investigate material variances with key stakeholders across Marketing, Human Resources, and Retail Operations
Qualifications
- CA or CPA qualified
- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience
- Strong technical accounting experience across month-end close, general ledger review, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, financial reporting, financial controls, and audits
- Exposure to BAS, GST, CAPEX, fixed asset accounting, and audit PBC preparation
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and SAP experience with the ability to analyse, reconcile, and validate large financial data sets
- Strong attention to detail, sound financial judgement, and commitment to accuracy and data integrity

Experience
Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience in retail, FMCG, or another high-volume multi-site environment highly desirable.
Education
Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline. CA or CPA qualification required.
