Sephora seeks Category Manager Coordinator in Madrid for Iberia operations, overseeing category strategy, brand partnerships, and retail performance.
Role & Responsibilities
- Define and implement commercial category strategy aligned with Sephora's objectives, analyzing market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities
- Develop annual business plans for categories and principal brands, managing the complete product portfolio lifecycle from launch to discontinuation
- Cultivate strategic relationships with national and international brands and suppliers; lead commercial negotiations encompassing purchase conditions, commercial investment, promotions, and exclusivity agreements
- Establish optimal assortment for various channels and store formats; lead implementation of strategic launches and category innovations while balancing innovation with commercial performance
- Monitor category performance through sales, margin, inventory, rotation, and profitability KPIs; conduct periodic analysis to identify risks and opportunities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, E-commerce, Retail, CRM, and Supply Chain teams to maximize category performance and coordinate promotional campaigns and brand activation plans
- Coordinate with international teams to ensure alignment with Sephora's global category strategy and omnichannel execution
Qualifications
- University degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or equivalent discipline
- Minimum 5–7 years in category management, buying, merchandising, or equivalent commercial roles
- Demonstrated experience negotiating with brands and suppliers
- Strong knowledge of retail sector dynamics and consumer market environments
- Proven ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable commercial strategies
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and business analysis tools
Skills
Experience
Between 4 and 7 years in Category Management, Buying, Merchandising, or similar commercial functions. Prior experience in retail, beauty, cosmetics, luxury goods, or FMCG is valued. Demonstrated expertise managing P&L, assortments, and commercial negotiations is essential.
Education
University degree in Business Administration and Management, Marketing, Economics, or equivalent discipline.
