Sephora San Mateo (Hillsdale) seeks a full-time Beauty Advisor. Hourly pay $22.60–$26.00; deliver personalized beauty consultations.
Role & Responsibilities
- Deliver personalized in-store consultations and tailored product recommendations that address each client's needs and preferences.
- Demonstrate product expertise across makeup, skincare and fragrance; educate clients to build confidence and long-term loyalty.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of beauty trends, launches and category techniques to provide relevant advice.
- Drive sales performance and meet or exceed store KPIs through consultative selling and client follow-up.
- Support merchandising, inventory activities and ensure the sales floor is clean, organized and visually compelling.
- Promote an inclusive, collaborative team environment and uphold Sephora’s policies and customer service standards.
- Adhere to scheduling requirements including availability for peak retail hours (nights, weekends, holidays) and maintain reliable attendance.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail, hospitality or a client-facing environment with demonstrated customer service skills.
- Passion for beauty, trends and a commitment to empowering client confidence.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal abilities; comfortable in a goal-oriented sales setting.
- Team player who learns quickly and shares product knowledge with colleagues.
- Physically able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform routine merchandising tasks.
Skills
Experience
Entry-level role; candidates with prior retail or client-service experience are preferred but not mandatory. Demonstrated ability to build client relationships is advantageous.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational training or coursework in cosmetology, beauty or retail is a plus.
