Assistant Merchant position at Sephora Canada in Toronto; hybrid role supporting brand strategies and assortment curation. CAD$62,000–$74,000 plus bonus.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Maintain engaging and accurate product content including descriptions, pricing, and assortment updates across digital channels
  • Support Q&A content and create seamless client experiences across website, mobile app, and email platforms
  • Review digital and marketing proofs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality standards
  • Generate performance reports using data and insights to identify opportunities for business growth
  • Analyze sales trends, category performance, and client behavior to support strategic business decisions
  • Partner with Merchant to execute compelling brand and product strategies aligned with client inspiration
  • Build vendor partnerships by supporting negotiations related to samples, testers, returns, and damaged products
  • Identify emerging trends, brands, and opportunities to elevate assortment and fuel category growth
  • Support visual merchandising strategies, planograms, and brand presentations to enhance in-store discovery
  • Execute key operational processes including SKU creation, product maintenance, invoice review, and markdown management
  • Collaborate with Planning, DotCa, and Sephora US partners on inventory management and sales forecasting
  • Coordinate samples, gratis, and product requests while fostering strong brand partnerships
  • Provide field team support with timely solutions and guidance on category-related inquiries
  • Manage reporting, calendar planning, market preparation, and cross-functional administrative support
  • Coordinate brand activations and category initiatives through thoughtful planning and execution

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience in retail buying, merchandising, or planning within a fast-paced, client-focused environment
  • Bachelor's degree or College diploma in Retail Management, Business, or related field
  • Passion for beauty products with strong understanding of consumer trends and behaviors
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven negotiation and relationship-building capabilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Solid understanding of the Canadian retail landscape and vendor ecosystem
  • Knowledge of Canadian beauty industry, Health Canada regulations, and product compliance (asset)
  • Bilingualism in French and English written and spoken (asset)
