Sephora Canada in Toronto is hiring an Assistant Merchant (hybrid) to manage brand assortments, vendor relations and merchandising analytics.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly, monthly and semi-annual sales analyses to monitor brand portfolio performance and identify sales opportunities.
  • Manage brand assortments for in-store and secondary out-of-home spaces, coordinating planogram updates, productivity tracking and update timelines with visual merchandising and store teams.
  • Oversee vendor relationships including price changes, tester/damage resolution, Return to Vendor (RTV) processes and compliance submission follow-ups.
  • Review and approve in-store brand visual elements and planograms for mono- and multi-branded spaces.
  • Lead the promotional process: engage brands, recommend strategic offers, and verify SKU and pricing accuracy for promotions.
  • Manage SKU lifecycle tasks including creation and maintenance, price updates, launch/delist timing, invoice review and markdown chargeback processes.
  • Support field teams with category-related inquiries via the Hotline Online tool and collaborate with Planning, DotCa and Sephora US on inventory and sales forecasting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' experience as an assistant buyer, merchandiser or planner within a large retail environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in retail management, business or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Canadian cosmetics market, Health Canada regulatory requirements and vendor organisation.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving capabilities applied to commercial decision-making.
  • Product passion for beauty and proven ability to interpret consumer trends and translate them into assortment strategies.
  • Bilingual French/English (written and spoken) is an asset.

Experience

At least 2 years' experience as an assistant buyer, merchandiser or planner for a major retailer, with exposure to assortment management, vendor negotiations and promotional planning.

Compensation

The base compensation for this position ranges from CAD 66,500 to CAD 74,300 per annum.
