Sephora Singapore: Assistant Manager, Financial Control (1-year contract) in Singapore. Lead financial control, reporting and compliance.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day accounting and financial control activities, ensuring accurate transaction processing, journals, reconciliations and reporting outputs aligned with group requirements
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing activities, including balance sheet review, P&L analysis, accruals, provisions and resolution of closing issues
  • Coordinate preparation and submission of group financial reports, statutory financial statements, regulatory reports and supporting schedules
  • Review accounting treatment for key transactions, leases, accruals, provisions and intercompany items, escalating material topics as needed
  • Manage daily finance operations with the Shared Services team, ensuring timely processing and appropriate escalation of operational risks
  • Partner with business stakeholders to resolve finance queries, explain financial processes and support completion of operational finance requirements
  • Manage finance matters relating to lease agreements, including bank guarantees, stamp duties and supporting documentation
  • Lead statutory audit activities, including audit planning, preparation of supporting schedules and management responses
  • Maintain strong internal control environment by ensuring key controls, reconciliations, documentation standards and approval processes operate effectively
  • Coordinate internal control reviews, compliance testing and internal audit activities
  • Coordinate corporate tax, GST and other statutory filings with external advisors, ensuring accuracy and timely submission
  • Monitor tax and regulatory developments and implement actions to maintain compliance
  • Support budget, forecast and cost-control processes by preparing analysis and tracking expenses
  • Support ad hoc finance projects and process-improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline
  • Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA or ACCA advantageous
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial reporting, statutory audit support and financial control
  • Hands-on experience in month-end and year-end closing and preparation and review of financial statements
  • Good knowledge of Singapore statutory reporting, tax compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Experience in internal controls, risk assessment, audit coordination, process documentation and control remediation
  • Strong financial analysis, cost control and variance-analysis skills with ability to explain key movements clearly
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver within tight timelines

Experience

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial reporting, statutory audit support and financial control, with proven hands-on expertise in month-end and year-end closing activities and financial statement preparation and review.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline. Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA or ACCA is advantageous.
