Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct surveillance on the sales floor and via CCTV systems to identify, observe, and deter or apprehend individuals committing external theft
- Prepare detailed reports on theft incidents, merchandise recoveries, accident investigations, and audits
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal partners, local law enforcement, mall security, and other retailers
- Conduct store self-audits, checklists, and safety inspections, communicating findings to store leadership and District Loss Prevention Manager
- Assist the store leadership team with inventory preparation, processing, and shrinkage prevention plan development and execution
- Provide new hire and ongoing employee training to maintain store loss prevention awareness and best practices
- Provide friendly, professional, and knowledgeable service to clients as needed
- Testify in court on behalf of the company in criminal or civil cases as summoned
- Maintain the required minimum number of weekly shifts and hours (30–40 hours per week for full-time positions)
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of asset protection or loss prevention experience in a retail environment
- Current and maintained licensing as required by province or local jurisdiction
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong written, verbal, interviewing, listening, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to maintain composure and provide effective coaching in loss prevention techniques
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Availability to work at multiple locations within a market
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
