Role & Responsibilities

  • Execute a full range of garment alterations and repairs to luxury quality standards, including hemming, taking in/out, re-lining and structural adjustments.
  • Perform precise measurements and fittings with clients; advise on feasible adjustments while preserving designer proportions and silhouette.
  • Work with a variety of materials—silks, wools, leathers and knitwear—using both hand-sewing and machine techniques appropriate to each fabric.
  • Operate and maintain industrial sewing machines, overlockers/sergers and pressing/steaming equipment; ensure tools are calibrated and clean.
  • Prepare and document alteration orders in the boutique’s workflow system; track timelines and communicate status to sales and client service teams.
  • Finish garments to couture-level presentation, perform final quality checks and sign off before client collection or dispatch.
  • Manage sample alterations and collaborate with design or production teams when pattern modifications are required for bespoke or limited-edition pieces.

Qualifications

  • Formal vocational training or apprenticeship in tailoring, dressmaking or garment construction preferred.
  • Demonstrable portfolio of alteration work on premium or luxury garments.
