Senior Associate, General Accounting at Saks Global in India. Lead general ledger operations and month-end close for the world's largest multi-brand luxury retailer.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and perform day-to-day general ledger accounting activities including cash and bank entries, journal entries, accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions, and account reconciliations
- Oversee and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and review balance sheet and P&L reconciliations in accordance with internal controls and accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS)
- Analyze financial data and variances, providing insights and resolving discrepancies as needed
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and comprehensive documentation
- Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, and Financial Planning & Analysis to ensure consistent financial data
- Develop and implement process improvements to simplify and automate accounting procedures, increasing accuracy and reducing manual efforts
- Serve as subject matter expert to maintain proper control on period activity and strengthen process understanding
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4–6 years of progressive experience in general ledger or financial accounting roles
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and internal controls
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as Workday, SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and lookup functions
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Experience in multinational or shared services environments
- Exposure to financial reporting tools such as Hyperion or Power BI
Skills
Experience
4–6 years of progressive experience in general ledger or financial accounting roles, ideally within multinational or shared services environments. Demonstrated expertise in managing month-end and quarter-end close processes, account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
