Role & Responsibilities

• Lead functional design, configuration, and testing as primary subject matter expert for Workday Absence and Core HCM modules
• Architect and maintain complex Time Off and Leave of Absence plans, period schedules, accrual calculations, and balance limits across multiple worker types
• Configure and support core HCM processes including supervisory organizations, position management, staffing models, and employee lifecycle business processes
• Translate regional and state-specific legal requirements into system rules, managing usage caps, legacy PTO carryovers, and conditional logic
• Build and maintain dynamic holiday calendars, configure PTO borrowing features, and ensure accurate system behavior during worker transitions
• Evaluate bi-annual Workday feature releases and present strategic recommendations to stakeholders for adoption and deployment
• Gather business requirements from HR leaders and translate complex operational needs into scalable Workday solutions
• Create and maintain custom reports, calculated fields, and dashboards to support business analytics and ensure data accuracy
• Provide technical guidance, support, and training to junior analysts and end-users on system functionality and best practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field
• 5+ years of hands-on functional experience within the Workday ecosystem
• Deep configuration expertise in Workday Absence, including custom calculation engines for accruals and limits
• Deep configuration experience in Workday Core HCM, including business process framework, condition rules, and organizational setup
• Demonstrated success mapping complex, localized labor laws to Workday Absence configurations
• Deep understanding of HR business processes including leave requests, short-term disability coordination, and worker transition impacts
• Familiarity with Workday Absence and HCM integration with external timekeeping and scheduling systems
• High proficiency in Workday report writing and calculated fields
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Skills

Experience

5+ years of hands-on functional experience within the Workday ecosystem, with demonstrated expertise in Absence and Core HCM configuration. Proven success translating complex, multi-state labor law requirements into system configurations. Experience managing integrations between Workday and external timekeeping or scheduling systems. Track record of leading system readiness initiatives and managing bi-annual feature release evaluations.

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field
