Confidential luxury fashion house in New York seeks a Payroll Associate to manage payroll processing, reporting and compliance for corporate and retail staff.
Role & Responsibilities
- Execute end-to-end payroll cycles for assigned employee populations, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, deductions and net pay according to local rules.
- Maintain payroll master data in the payroll/HCM system, including new hires, terminations, pay changes and statutory deductions.
- Perform reconciliations of payroll registers to general ledger accounts and prepare month‑end payroll reporting for finance.
- Ensure compliance with statutory payroll, tax withholding and reporting obligations; prepare and support periodic filings and audits.
- Investigate and resolve employee payroll enquiries and discrepancies in a timely, confidential manner.
- Collaborate with HR, finance and external providers (payroll bureaus, tax advisors) to manage off‑cycle payments, benefit deductions and payroll corrections.
- Participate in system implementations, upgrades and process improvements to strengthen controls and automation.
Qualifications
- Proven proficiency with commercial payroll/HCM systems (ADP, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors or equivalent).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables and formulas for reconciliation and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax rules, statutory withholdings and year‑end processes for the assigned jurisdiction(s).
- High level of accuracy, confidentiality and ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Professional payroll certification (e.g., CPP, CIPP) preferred but not required.

Experience
Typically 2+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience in a corporate or bureau environment; experience with multi-jurisdictional payroll and collaboration with HR and finance preferred.
Education
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field, or equivalent professional experience; payroll certification advantageous.
