Role & Responsibilities

  • Produce high‑quality altered and made‑to‑measure garments within established time and productivity standards while maintaining exceptional finish and fit.
  • Apply expert garment construction knowledge to determine appropriate alteration methods, materials and finishing for a wide range of luxury fabrics and product categories.
  • Take measurements, complete MTM forms and draft or drape patterns to create custom garments and bespoke adjustments.
  • Execute specialty techniques including leather work, double‑face fabric handling, complex tailoring, fur work and functional/imitation buttonholes.
  • Press, spot and finish garments to luxury retail standards; ensure consistent final quality of all altered merchandise.
  • Deliver outstanding client service by building and sustaining customer relationships and representing Saks Global customer service principles.
  • Follow all store and alterations workroom policies and safety procedures; maintain a clean, organised and secure work environment.
  • Collaborate closely with the Alterations Manager and cross‑functional store teams to support departmental and company initiatives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing technical expertise, supporting training and adopting new processes as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7+ years of fine tailoring and Made‑to‑Measure (MTM) experience working with high‑end merchandise.
  • Proven technical competence in tailoring and garment construction across a broad range of fabrics and categories.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and drape patterns and to complete MTM documentation accurately.
  • Experience with specialty techniques (leather, double‑face, complex tailoring, fur, functional/imitation buttonholes).
  • Strong pressing, spotting and finishing skills specific to luxury apparel.
  • Excellent client‑facing skills, with the ability to build and maintain lasting customer relationships.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced retail environment and to contribute to team objectives.
  • Creative problem‑solving aptitude and a track record of delivering results within a complex organisation.
