Lead Privacy Counsel - Remote, Tennessee. Develop privacy strategy and provide legal counsel on data protection compliance for a luxury organization.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement enterprise-wide privacy compliance programs aligned with international data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, and emerging legislation)
- Provide strategic legal counsel to executive leadership on privacy risk mitigation and regulatory obligations
- Lead cross-functional privacy initiatives including data governance, consent management, and third-party vendor assessments
- Oversee privacy impact assessments and manage legal reviews of new products, services, and technologies
- Represent the organization in regulatory investigations and communications with data protection authorities
- Supervise junior privacy counsel and coordinate with external legal advisors on complex matters
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in the state of Tennessee or ability to obtain admission
- Minimum 8 years of progressive legal experience in privacy, data protection, or information law
- Demonstrated expertise in GDPR, CCPA, and multi-jurisdictional privacy frameworks
- Strong knowledge of technology law, contractual data protection obligations, and regulatory enforcement trends
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to distill complex legal concepts for non-legal stakeholders
Skills
Experience
Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in privacy law, data protection, regulatory compliance, or related in-house counsel roles. Proven track record of developing and implementing privacy programs at scale, managing regulatory relationships, and advising C-suite executives.
Education
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; admission to the Tennessee state bar or ability to obtain licensure required.
