Saks Global seeks Director of Financial Reporting in Texas. Lead financial reporting, technical accounting, and US GAAP compliance for the world's largest luxury retailer. $151K–$196K annually.
Role & Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end preparation, documentation, and analysis of quarterly and annual financial statements, detailed footnotes, and SEC disclosures (10-K, 10-Q, MD&A)
- Direct the consolidated close process across the accounting and finance organization, ensuring financial accuracy and timely data availability across retail banners, channels, and foreign subsidiaries
- Ensure all reporting strictly adheres to US GAAP standards, applicable regulatory requirements, and reporting deadlines
- Prepare reference books and executive presentation materials for periodic accounting and disclosure reviews with the Chief Accounting Officer, CFO, CEO, and external auditors
- Resolve complex accounting issues through research of authoritative literature, cross-functional collaboration, technical memo drafting, and implementation of standards
- Lead evaluation, implementation, and documentation for complex accounting areas including revenue recognition (ASC 606), lease accounting (ASC 842), long-lived and intangible asset impairments, and debt/equity transactions
- Continuously evaluate and monitor the adoption of newly emerging accounting standards and regulatory guidelines
- Serve as primary liaison to external auditors, managing audit workflows and presenting technical positions to auditor leadership
- Maintain robust internal control frameworks and SOX compliance across financial reporting and technical accounting workflows
- Partner with Commercial, Real Estate, Legal, Tax, Technology, and FP&A teams to assess financial impact of major business initiatives and strategic deals
- Translate complex technical accounting standards into clear, actionable business impacts for executive leadership and non-finance stakeholders
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of technical accounting and financial reporting analysts and specialists
Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential required
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master's in Accounting or MBA preferred
- 8–10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience
- Strong foundation in Big 4 or national public accounting firm experience
- Proven track record in industry corporate accounting and financial reporting
- Exceptional technical writing ability and ability to draft clear, audit-ready technical accounting memos
- Executive presence and ability to articulate financial narratives to officers, auditors, and board members
- Skilled at building strong cross-functional relationships across business units and support teams
- Uncompromising precision regarding financial data integrity and strict adherence to reporting deadlines
- Proficiency in enterprise ERPs such as Workday, SAP, or Oracle
- Experience with financial reporting and consolidation software such as Workiva, OneStream, Hyperion, or EPM
- Proven track record leading digital transformation or finance-system implementation projects

8–10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with strong foundation in Big 4 or national public accounting firm experience and proven track record in industry corporate accounting and financial reporting. Demonstrated expertise in complex accounting issues, technical standards implementation, and multi-entity financial consolidation across retail and omnichannel environments.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required. Master's in Accounting or Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
