The Buying Operations Trainee reports to the Manager, Buying Operations and works with Merchandising Planning, Buying teams in North America, vendors, and other stakeholders to manage purchase orders and operational workflows. The role coordinates vendors, tracks orders, maintains dashboards and reports, and supports vendor onboarding and buying operations execution.
Role & Responsibilities
- Process purchase orders accurately and on time using relevant tools.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to confirm order details and delivery schedules, and resolve discrepancies.
- Prioritize orders according to urgency, business needs, and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Maintain internal trackers and databases to monitor order statuses, delivery schedules, and costs.
- Support onboarding new vendors by collecting required documents and setting up records.
- Assist in generating reports on buying activity, order accuracy, and vendor compliance.
- Ensure adherence to SLAs and flag delays or exceptions to relevant stakeholders.
- Work with Buying Offices, Planners, and Vendors.
- Create and document best practices.
- Serve as a liaison between US Buying offices, vendors, and the Leadership team.
- Maintain the workflow dashboard and report business metrics.
- Provide regular reports on order status, vendor performance, and operational metrics.
- Execute other specific tasks and special projects as assigned.

- Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders across the business and provide critical input to business teams.
- Detail-oriented, with good organizational and clerical skills.
- Proactive self-starter with a dynamic and resilient nature, able to work independently with little supervision and lead in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while adhering strictly to deadlines.
