Role & Responsibilities
- Define and execute the merchandising strategy and product direction for the men's designer shoes category to meet sales, margin and financial objectives.
- Develop customer-centered assortment frameworks and allocation strategies using customer, trend and competitive insights to guide buying and distribution.
- Lead market preparation and attend market appointments to select product, negotiate commercial terms and coordinate exclusive merchandise with brand partners.
- Manage in-season performance through daily review of sell-through reports, deploy in-season levers (style swaps, RTVs, markdowns, matrix expansions) and collaborate with Planners on OTB and allocation decisions.
- Set product display, launch timing and cross-sell strategies in alignment with Planning and Marketing guardrails.
- Own vendor relationships and negotiation throughout the season, resolving escalated order-management and performance issues.
- Lead, mentor and develop Associate Buyers, Assistant Buyers and Coordinators to build capability and ensure alignment with category goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent retail experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in a buying office with demonstrable understanding of buying operations and retail strategy.
- Strong commercial and analytical acumen with expertise in retail math (markup, margin planning, OTB, WOS, T/O, GMROI) and assortment planning.
- Proven leadership and team management experience in fast-paced, dynamic retail environments.
- Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to build strong internal and vendor relationships.
- Highly organised with strong prioritisation, planning and conflict-management capabilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel, including internationally, as required.

At least 5 years' progressive buying experience within a retail buying office, including direct responsibility for assortment strategy, vendor negotiation and in-season management.
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent retail experience.
