Bergdorf Goodman seeks Assistant Buyer for women's designer ready-to-wear at NYC corporate headquarters—support buying operations, vendor relations, and merchandise planning in luxury retail.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Assist buyer in achieving sales targets and gross margin goals for assigned category
  • Manage daily operations of the buying office and maintain accurate records
  • Establish and cultivate long-term vendor relationships and partnerships
  • Oversee vendor support coordination and facilitate communication between vendors and store
  • Analyze and recap selling performance, category trends, and vendor metrics
  • Plan and execute promotional activities to maximize in-season sales
  • Attend market appointments with strategic assortment plans and customer-centric product knowledge
  • Negotiate purchasing terms and end-of-season settlements with vendors
  • Develop and execute seasonal merchandise strategy aligned with customer needs, performance data, and industry trends
  • Forecast monthly inventory receipts and manage inventory flow to optimize stock levels
  • Collaborate with planners on seasonal financial plans and budget development
  • Partner with omni-channel team on product content, imagery, and online merchandising
  • Manage marketing coordination including proposals, co-op agreements, and sample logistics
  • Mentor and develop merchandise assistants reporting to this position
