Saks Global seeks an Assistant Buyer in Pennsylvania. Manage orders, analyze inventory, and support buying operations at a leading luxury retailer.
Role & Responsibilities
- Liaise with Buyers, Associate Buyers, and brand partners to gather and confirm order details, manage updates to buy sheets, and resolve discrepancies
- Oversee offshore Merchandise Assistants' creation and transmission of purchase orders to brand partners, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
- Provide allocation direction to the Planning Allocation team and manage allocations for high-touch designer categories
- Prepare Buyers for market by coordinating with Planners to provide comprehensive insights on historical performance, trends, and customer preferences
- Review business performance in close collaboration with Assistant Planners, communicating style insights to Buyers and recommending in-season actions
- Manage markdown cadence and oversee offshore execution of price changes, returns to vendor (RTVs), and other in-season adjustments
- Collaborate with offshore reporting teams to generate custom buying reports and maintain structural changes to views
- Coordinate market appointments, logistics for style-out sessions, and occasionally attend New York market events
Qualifications
- 1–2 years' experience as an Assistant Buyer, preferably in a major department store
- Strong knowledge of and ability to apply retail math concepts, including markup, margin planning, open to buy (OTB), and inventory productivity measures (WOS, T/O, GMROI)
- Proficiency in retail systems including RFS, AMS, PCW, and NuOrder
- Expert-level competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficiency with Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities

Experience
1–2 years in assistant buying or related buying operations role, preferably within a major luxury department store environment. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple vendor relationships, execute on buying calendars, and analyze retail performance metrics.
Education
Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent professional retail buying experience.

Compensation
The base compensation for this position ranges from USD 54,000 to USD 72,000 per annum.
