Role & Responsibilities
- Liaise with Buyers, Associate Buyers, and brand partners to gather and confirm order details, manage buy sheet updates, and resolve discrepancies
- Oversee offshore Merchandise Assistants' creation and transmission of purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy while managing vendor communication and escalations
- Provide allocation direction and manage allocations for high-touch designer categories in collaboration with the Planning Allocation team
- Manage communication of receipt flow changes to offshore teams and maintain purchase orders to ensure accurate visibility of ship windows and on-order quantities
- Prepare Buyers for market by coordinating with Planners to deliver comprehensive historical performance insights and emerging trend analysis
- Support Buyer in style-out sessions including coordinating logistics and preparing presentation insights for assortment strategy
- Act as primary point of contact for execution questions and feedback from brand partners, visual merchandising, stores, digital, and marketing teams
- Review business performance in close collaboration with Assistant Planners, communicating bottoms-up style insights and recommending in-season actions
- Manage markdown cadence and oversee offshore execution of price changes, returns to vendor (RTV), and escalated pricing issues
- Collaborate with offshore reporting teams to generate custom buying reports and maintain structural changes to analytical views
Qualifications
- 1–2 years' experience as an Assistant Buyer, preferably in a major department store environment
- Demonstrated expertise in retail mathematics including markup, margin planning, open-to-buy (OTB), and inventory productivity measures such as weeks of supply (WOS), turnover rate (T/O), and gross margin return on investment (GMROI)
- Proficiency in buying systems including RFS, AMS, PCW, and NuOrder
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides
- Exceptional ability to manage ambiguity, multitask, and prioritize independently in a fast-paced environment
- Proven problem-solving capability with ability to generate novel approaches quickly
- Strong interpersonal and diplomatic communication skills with ability to build trust across stakeholders
- Consistent high-performer with proven track record of driving positive outcomes in complex organizations
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
