Role & Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service during all fittings and alterations consultations, embodying Saks Fifth Avenue's service excellence principles
- Execute precise alterations and repairs on a diverse range of high-end garments, utilizing technical expertise to ensure flawless results
- Operate all standard sewing, pressing, and spotting equipment, as well as specialty machines including double-blind, buttonhole, cover-stitch, and leather equipment
- Assess garment construction and fabric composition to determine optimal alteration approaches and provide expert fitting recommendations
- Maintain meticulous documentation and workflow management within the alteration workroom, adhering to all company and departmental procedures
- Sustain a clean, organized, and safe working environment that reflects the luxury brand standards
- Support store initiatives and department goals while contributing to overall team productivity and performance metrics
Qualifications
- Minimum three years of documented fitting and tailoring experience in high-end luxury merchandise
- Demonstrated mastery of specialty skills including leather work, knit alterations, double-face fabrication, beading, and fine tailoring
- Proficiency with all standard sewing, pressing, and spotting equipment
- Expert operation of specialty machinery: double-blind stitch, buttonhole, cover-stitch, and leather-working machines
- Comprehensive knowledge of luxury fashion fabrication, construction methods, and garment styling
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage customer expectations
