Role & Responsibilities
- Alter constructed garments to meet Saks Fifth Avenue quality standards equal to or exceeding original construction
- Execute seam alterations (vented or unvented), shoulder blade adjustments, chest reductions, and shoulder narrowing
- Rotate and shorten sleeves, shorten backs and collars, and square shoulders as needed
- Shorten coats, re-line coats, and remake interior and exterior pockets
- Operate and maintain all sewing equipment in proper working condition
- Self-inspect completed work to ensure adherence to quality standards
- Interpret written and oral instructions from Supervisors, Leads, and Managers
- Complete alterations tasks and special assignments as directed by leadership
Qualifications
- Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment preferred
- Proficiency with a variety of garment styles and fabric types
- Ability to read and comprehend English instructions
- Ability to perform mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) across all units of measure
