Role & Responsibilities
- Execute alterations on constructed garments to meet Neiman Marcus quality standards, equal to or exceeding original construction
- Perform seam adjustments (vented or unvented), shoulder blade modifications, chest reduction, and shoulder narrowing
- Rotate and shorten sleeves, shorten back seams, adjust collar height, and square shoulders
- Shorten coats, reline coats, and remake interior and exterior pockets
- Operate and maintain all sewing equipment with proficiency and care
- Self-inspect completed alterations to ensure adherence to quality standards before delivery
- Complete assigned alteration tasks under direction of Supervisor or Lead
- Interpret written and oral instructions from management and adapt work accordingly
Qualifications
- Proven experience in tailoring operations or industrial sewing environment
- Proficiency with a variety of garment styles and fabric types
- Ability to read and comprehend English
- Ability to perform basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) across all units of measurement
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Skills
Experience
Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment with exposure to a variety of garment styles and fabric types is preferred.
Education
Ability to read English and understand written and oral instructions.
