Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct alterations on constructed garments to meet Neiman Marcus quality standards, maintaining or exceeding original construction calibre
- Perform specialized alterations including seam modifications, shoulder blade adjustments, chest reduction, shoulder narrowing, sleeve rotation and shortening, back shortening, collar shaping, and shoulder squaring
- Re-line coats and remake interior and exterior pockets to specification
- Operate and maintain all specialized sewing equipment with proficiency and care
- Execute self-inspection of completed work to verify compliance with established quality benchmarks
- Complete assigned alterations tasks with precision under the direction of Supervisor or Lead
- Interpret and execute written and oral instructions from management with accuracy
- Coordinate with fitting specialists to achieve optimal garment fit and alterability outcomes
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in tailoring operations or industrial sewing environment
- Extensive exposure to diverse garment styles, construction techniques, and fabric types
- Proficiency in reading English and understanding detailed technical instructions
- Strong mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across all units of measure
- Ability to maintain meticulous quality standards and attention to detail
Skills
Experience
Prior experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment with exposure to a variety of garment styles and fabric types is preferred.
Education
Ability to read English and understand technical instructions; mathematical competency in standard measurements.
