Role & Responsibilities
- Execute alterations on constructed garments including seam adjustments, shoulder blade modifications, chest reductions, and shoulder narrowing
- Rotate and shorten sleeves, shorten backs and collars, and square shoulders to precise specifications
- Shorten coats, re-line garments, and remake interior and exterior pockets while maintaining original construction standards
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all sewing equipment used in the alterations department
- Self-inspect completed work to ensure quality standards meet or exceed Neiman Marcus specifications
- Interpret and execute written and oral instructions from supervisors, leads, and management
- Collaborate with fitting staff to achieve optimal fit and structural integrity of apparel merchandise
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment
- Proficiency with a variety of garment styles and fabric types
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions in English
- Proficiency in mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) across all units of measure
- Ability to self-inspect work and maintain consistent quality standards

Experience
Prior experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment with exposure to diverse garment styles and fabric types is preferred.
Education
