Role & Responsibilities

  • Execute high-quality alterations and tailoring on luxury fashion merchandise within established timeframe standards
  • Provide expert guidance to customers during garment fittings and tailor consultations
  • Demonstrate proficiency in specialty tailoring techniques including leather work, knit alterations, beading, and fine construction details
  • Maintain pressing and spotting expertise to ensure finished garment quality
  • Embody Saks Fifth Avenue Customer Service Principles and establish meaningful customer relationships
  • Adhere to all alteration workroom policies, safety protocols, and quality control procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Support departmental and store initiatives and contribute to team objectives

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional seamstress or tailoring experience with high-end merchandise
  • Demonstrated expertise in tailoring and pressing a diverse range of luxury garments
  • Technical proficiency in specialty skills such as leather finishing, knit alteration, double-faced fabric work, beading, fine tailoring, and buttonhole construction
  • Comprehensive knowledge of luxury fashion fabrication, garment construction, and styling principles
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
