Saks Fifth Avenue seeks a Server Assistant in New York—full-time hospitality role managing dining room operations, table service, and guest support in luxury retail environment.
Role & Responsibilities
- Maintain tables by clearing, sanitizing, and resetting according to brand standards before and between service periods
- Proactively stock and replenish glassware, flatware, china, linens, and other service supplies throughout shifts
- Learn and navigate table numbers, seating charts, and server sections with precision
- Act as food runner, delivering culinary items and beverages from kitchen to guest tables according to kitchen tickets
- Assist front-of-house staff and back-of-house kitchen team with real-time operational needs, including beverage refills, plate restocking, and order preparation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of service stations, beverage areas, and side-work stations
- Execute pre-shift and post-shift side-work duties with discipline
- Set up dining room before service with foundational items, including water carafes, coffee, iced tea, and ice reservoirs
- Graciously handle additional guest requests on the floor, escalating to primary Server or Manager when necessary
- Participate in daily pre-shift briefings to review specials, floor pacing, and VIP reservations
- Flexibly assist with physical configuration of dining room, including safely moving or adjusting tables and chairs
- Maintain highest standards of personal hygiene and professional presentation to eliminate food contamination risks
- Arrive punctually in proper uniform with all necessary tools for daily duties
- Coordinate meal breaks and schedule changes with management and team members
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Previous experience in food and beverage or upscale hospitality role
- Foundational knowledge of table service guidelines and proper placement of luxury table settings
- Familiarity with basic food preparation concepts and culinary terminology
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 35 pounds for extended periods
- Willingness to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Experience
Previous experience in a food and beverage or upscale hospitality role, with a basic understanding of table service guidelines and proper table settings.
Education
High School Diploma or GED preferred.

The base compensation for this position ranges from USD 19.61 to USD 24.51 per hour.
