Role & Responsibilities
- Deliver expert, customer-facing garment fittings and alterations for luxury merchandise, advising clients on fit and finishing decisions during fittings.
- Perform a wide range of alteration tasks—hemming, taking in/out, garment reshaping and specialty repairs—while maintaining exceptional craft and attention to detail.
- Operate and maintain standard sewing, pressing and spotting equipment as well as specialty machines as required.
- Model Saks Fifth Avenue customer service principles; cultivate and sustain strong client relationships to ensure an exceptional in-store experience.
- Meet and exceed individual productivity and performance targets while following all store and alterations workroom policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment; support store and department initiatives and perform ad hoc responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum three years of fitting and tailoring experience with high‑end or luxury garments.
- Demonstrable ability to fit and alter a wide range of apparel, including structured tailoring, knits and eveningwear.
- Technical proficiency with standard sewing, pressing and spotting equipment; experience with specialty techniques (e.g., beading, fine tailoring, buttonholes) strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with luxury fabrications and garment construction, and the ability to make informed alterations decisions during client fittings.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
