Rolex in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland seeks a Tooling & Stamping Setup Technician to set up and validate precision stamping dies for watch components.
Role & Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust and validate stamping dies and tooling for production of precision watch components, ensuring adherence to tight tolerances.
- Operate and commission hydraulic/mechanical presses and associated ancillary equipment, including blanks feeding and part extraction systems.
- Perform fine mechanical adjustments, tool break-in and first-article runs to achieve dimensional and surface-quality specifications.
- Carry out in-process inspection using micrometers, calipers and coordinate measuring machines (CMM); document measurements and maintain traceability records.
- Diagnose and remedy tooling issues; perform minor repairs, regrinds and preventive maintenance to maximise tool life and uptime.
- Collaborate with design/industrialisation and production teams to optimise tooling concepts, reduce scrap and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Write and maintain setup sheets, tooling dossiers and parameter databases for reproducible changeovers; enforce machine and workshop safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Vocational diploma or apprenticeship in toolmaking, mechanical engineering, precision mechanics, polymechanics, or equivalent technical qualification.
- Proven competence in die/tool setup and adjustment for stamping or presswork in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proficiency in precision metrology and first-piece inspection methods (micrometer, caliper, CMM).
- Commitment to rigorous quality standards, safety procedures and documentation discipline.

Experience
Minimum three years' hands-on experience in tooling, die setup or press-shop operations, preferably within horology, micro‑mechanics or another high-precision manufacturing sector.
Education
Vocational diploma (e.g., toolmaker, polymechanic, mechanical technician) or equivalent technical apprenticeship in precision mechanics or toolmaking.
