Role & Responsibilities
- Learn and perform surface preparation and polishing of watch cases, bracelets and small components under workshop supervision.
- Operate polishing machines and hand‑finish components using abrasives, buffs and compounds while respecting tolerances and finishes.
- Conduct visual and microscopic surface inspections to identify defects, scratches or inconsistencies and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain and care for polishing tools, fixtures and abrasives; ensure workplace cleanliness and adherence to 5S principles.
- Follow documented procedures and safety rules for handling metalworking compounds and polishing equipment.
- Attend vocational school and internal training modules required to obtain the AFP (federal VET certificate) and apply classroom learning to workshop tasks.
- Document work performed, track progress against learning objectives, and collaborate with watchmakers, metallurgists and quality teams.
Qualifications
- Completion of compulsory schooling; eligible for enrollment in a Swiss vocational training programme leading to an AFP (Federal VET certificate) in polishing or metal finishing.
- Excellent manual dexterity, fine motor control and binocular vision for close visual work.
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to finishing quality and surface aesthetics.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to follow technical instructions and simple engineering drawings.
- Punctuality, reliability and willingness to participate in a structured apprenticeship combining workshop and classroom learning.

No prior professional experience required; applicants with prior manual or workshop experience (e.g., metalworking, jewellery or watchmaking internships) will be advantaged.
Education
Compulsory schooling completed; candidate must be eligible to enrol in a vocational apprenticeship programme leading to the AFP (Swiss Federal VET certificate) in polishing/metal finishing or an equivalent qualification.
