Rolex SA, Bienne: Occupational Health & Safety Officer in Quality & Sustainability department, managing workplace hygiene and risk prevention in manufacturing.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and conduct or coordinate occupational hygiene measurements across workshops and workstations (dust, VOCs, noise, light, optical/ionizing radiation, heavy metals, and other exposures)
  • Analyze measurement results and prepare comprehensive technical reports
  • Collaborate with the Occupational Health Management department to propose recommendations and monitor corrective and preventive actions
  • Oversee gas detection equipment and provide chemical support (products, ventilation, storage, substitution, best practices)
  • Participate in risk identification, assessment, and control related to processes, substances, installations, and work stations
  • Review installation plans and projects; monitor radioprotection, laser, radiation, dust, and VOC compliance
  • Design and deliver internal awareness and training initiatives on occupational health and safety topics
  • Maintain and enhance the integrated management system (procedures, risk analyses, key performance indicators, action plans, audits)
  • Provide occasional supervision of temporary support staff
  • Manage documentation, measurement equipment, data, and regulatory reporting
  • Maintain regular field presence and engage with workshop personnel

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Occupational Hygiene or equivalent qualification in industrial hygiene, occupational safety, or workplace health (specialist or expert level)
  • Engineering degree or advanced scientific/technical qualification, preferably in chemistry, biology, process engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in occupational health and safety within industrial settings, large or mid-sized enterprises, and ISO-certified environments
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and prioritize risks associated with industrial activities, particularly chemical and physical hazards
  • Solid knowledge of chemistry, basic toxicology, ventilation systems, occupational exposure, and interpretation of occupational exposure limits
  • Proficiency with occupational hygiene measurement instruments and metrological tools, or demonstrated ability to learn quickly
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and experience engaging with occupational physicians, production teams, and external service providers
  • Excellent analytical capability; strong written communication skills and ability to produce clear reports and propose pragmatic preventive measures
  • Fluency in French is essential; knowledge of English and/or German is advantageous

Experience

More than 5 years of professional experience in occupational health and safety within industrial environments, including large and mid-sized enterprises operating under ISO management frameworks. Proven expertise in identifying, assessing, and controlling risks related to chemical and physical hazards in manufacturing settings.

Education

Diploma in Occupational Hygiene or equivalent qualification in industrial hygiene or occupational safety; alternatively, an engineering degree or advanced scientific/technical qualification with specialization in chemistry, biology, process engineering, or a related discipline.
