Rolex in Geneva seeks a Microengineering Intern to develop a technical referential on mechanical wear of watch bracelets.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experimental protocols to quantify mechanical wear and fatigue on watch bracelets and related components.
  • Perform laboratory testing using metrology and tribology equipment (profilometry, optical microscopy, SEM where applicable) and operate wear-testing rigs under controlled conditions.
  • Collect, validate and analyse experimental data using statistical and numerical tools; identify wear modes and root causes.
  • Compile a technical referential document that codifies wear metrics, test procedures, acceptance criteria and inspection methods for production and QA teams.
  • Liaise with cross-functional stakeholders (product engineering, quality assurance, production) to ensure tests reflect real-world usage and manufacturability.
  • Present findings and practical recommendations to technical teams and contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's programme in microengineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, tribology or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • Practical laboratory experience with materials characterisation and mechanical testing, gained through coursework or previous internships.
  • Strong analytical ability and proficiency in data processing and scientific reporting.
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail; ability to follow strict laboratory protocols and maintain accurate test records.
