Rolex in Biel/Bienne seeks a Metrology Technician to perform CMM inspection, calibration and measurement control for precision watch components.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Execute dimensional and functional inspection of components and assemblies using coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and hand-held metrology instruments.
  • Program, validate and operate CMM equipment to produce first-article inspections and routine measurement cycles.
  • Develop, document and maintain measurement procedures and control plans in close collaboration with production and quality engineering.
  • Perform calibration checks, maintain traceability of measurement equipment and coordinate external calibration services.
  • Analyse measurement data, apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques and report non-conformances with corrective action recommendations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects to reduce variation and improve manufacturability of precision watch components.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of inspection results in quality information systems and communicate findings to cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or vocational qualification in metrology, precision mechanics, mechanical engineering or watchmaking (or equivalent).
  • Practical certification or proven competence in CMM operation and programming preferred.
  • Sound understanding of measurement traceability, calibration principles and quality control methodologies.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Fluent technical literacy in data analysis and reporting; strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.

Vocational diploma or equivalent in metrology, precision mechanics, mechanical engineering or watchmaking. Additional certification in CMM operation or metrology is advantageous.
