Rolex is hiring a Metrology Coordinator in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland to manage calibration, CMM operations and measurement traceability.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of the metrology laboratory, ensuring timely measurement support to manufacturing, quality and R&D teams.
  • Manage calibration and maintenance schedules for measuring instruments (CMMs, gauges, microscopes, hardness testers) and maintain traceability to national/international standards.
  • Develop, validate and control measurement procedures and work instructions; ensure measurement uncertainty is calculated and documented.
  • Program, operate and optimise CMM routines and metrology software to support dimensional inspection and first-article verification.
  • Liaise with suppliers and external calibration houses; prepare and support internal and external quality audits (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025-related activities).
  • Analyse measurement data, perform trend and capability studies (SPC), and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement projects.
  • Supervise and train metrology technicians; allocate resources and ensure compliance with safety and quality protocols.
  • Maintain metrology documentation, equipment records and technical traceability files in the company quality management system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in mechanical engineering, precision engineering, industrial metrology or equivalent.
  • Proven experience coordinating metrology or calibration activities within precision manufacturing (preferably watches or micro-mechanics).
  • Practical knowledge of calibration principles, measurement uncertainty and traceability to national/international standards.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and metrology-related accreditation standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025) and audit preparation.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to train technicians and manage cross‑functional requests.
