Rolex in Geneva seeks a Methods Technician — Toolmaker to design and build precision tooling for watch production.
Role & Responsibilities
- Design, construct and commission bespoke production tooling, fixtures and gauges to support precision watch component manufacture.
- Define and document manufacturing methods, work instructions and process flows for new and existing tooling to ensure repeatable production quality.
- Program and operate CNC machines and EDM equipment; prepare CAM programs and optimise machining processes for small, high-precision components.
- Collaborate with production, quality and engineering teams to validate tooling performance, implement corrective actions and drive continuous process improvements.
- Perform maintenance, repair and iterative refinement of tooling; manage spare parts and tooling lifecycle documentation.
- Produce and maintain detailed technical drawings, tolerancing using GD&T, and first-article inspection reports in compliance with quality standards.
Qualifications
- Vocational diploma or equivalent in toolmaking, mechanical engineering or precision manufacturing.
- Proven expertise in tool construction and methods definition within high-precision industries (watchmaking, micro-mechanics or aerospace).
- Proficiency in reading and producing technical drawings and applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong competency in CAM/CNC practices, toolpath optimisation and machine setup for micromachining.
- Rigorous approach to quality, metrology and documentation.
Skills
Experience
Minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience in toolmaking, precision machining or methods engineering, ideally within watchmaking or another micro‑mechanical high‑precision manufacturing environment.
Education
Vocational diploma (apprenticeship) in toolmaking, precision mechanics or mechanical engineering, or equivalent professional certification.
