Rolex (Geneva) seeks a Mechanical/Robotics Intern to develop generative AI and run simulations for watch component design — 6‑month internship.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform numerical simulations of watch systems and components to characterise physical behaviours and constraints.
  • Develop and implement generative AI / machine‑learning algorithms that leverage simulation outputs to propose and optimise component geometries and physical properties.
  • Analyse simulation and algorithmic results to identify design improvements and trade-offs between manufacturability, mechanical performance and tolerances.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary watchmaking and engineering teams to integrate computational findings into prototype development and validation.
  • Document methodologies, present results to technical stakeholders and contribute actionable recommendations for subsequent R&D efforts.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics or equivalent.
  • Practical competence in numerical simulation methods and model-based analysis of mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence / machine‑learning concepts, with interest or experience in generative models and algorithm development.
  • Strong interest in precision mechanics and horology; meticulous, autonomous and methodical working approach.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to propose innovative solutions and to communicate technical findings clearly.

Experience

Enrolment in a relevant Master’s programme; prior academic or internship experience applying numerical simulation and/or machine‑learning to mechanical design is advantageous.

Education

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics or equivalent (current enrolment required).
