Rolex internship in Bienne: materials characterization and machining process evaluation for watch component engineering.
Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct state-of-the-art review of machining effects on material microstructure and mechanical properties
- Characterize material microstructure and mechanical properties using advanced analytical techniques
- Analyze and map the topography of machined surfaces
- Correlate watch component movement test data with machining process characteristics
- Prepare comprehensive final research report with findings and recommendations
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Master's program in Materials Science, Mechanics, Microtechnology, or equivalent discipline
- 6 months full-time availability commencing 1 October 2026 or by mutual agreement
- Practical experience in material characterization techniques (metallography, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, indentation testing, profilometry)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Self-directed and proactive work approach

Practical experience in material characterization techniques including metallography, optical microscopy, SEM analysis, indentation testing, and surface profilometry.
Education
Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Materials Science, Mechanics, Microtechnology, or equivalent field.
