Role & Responsibilities
- Design and execute experimental campaigns (Design of Experiments) to optimise ultrasonic machining/finishing parameters for watch components.
- Set up and operate ultrasonic machining equipment and fixtures for controlled trials in a production or laboratory environment.
- Perform metrological and surface-quality measurements using optical microscopy, profilometry and coordinate measuring equipment; prepare and interpret results.
- Analyse experimental data using statistical methods (ANOVA, regression) and present quantitative recommendations to engineering and production teams.
- Document protocols, test reports and proposed parameter specifications; contribute to the preparation of work instructions and technical dossiers.
- Collaborate closely with production, quality and R&D stakeholders to ensure transferability of optimised parameters into serial manufacturing while respecting safety and compliance rules.
Qualifications
- Current enrolment in a Bachelor's or Master's programme in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Precision Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- Demonstrable academic or laboratory experience with machining, material removal or surface finishing processes.
- Familiarity with experimental design and basic statistical analysis methods.
- Strong methodical approach, attention to dimensional and surface quality, and aptitude for precise documentation.
- Ability to work in a regulated manufacturing environment and to liaise with cross-functional teams.
Skills
Experience
Hands-on laboratory or industrial project experience with machining or materials processing is expected; prior internships or coursework involving process trials, metrology or experimental design are advantageous.
Education
Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Precision Engineering or equivalent.
