Rolex is hiring an Electroplating Technician in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland — skilled operator for galvanic surface finishing of precision watch components.
Role & Responsibilities
- Execute electroplating and galvanic surface‑finishing processes (e.g., nickel, rhodium, gold) on precision watch components according to defined specifications.
- Prepare and pre‑treat parts (cleaning, degreasing, masking) to ensure consistent adhesion and finish quality.
- Set up, monitor and adjust plating baths and related equipment; control bath chemistry, temperature and current parameters.
- Perform in‑process quality checks using micrometric and optical measuring instruments; document results and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain production equipment, perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance, and escalate complex technical faults to maintenance specialists.
- Comply with occupational health, chemical safety and environmental regulations; manage hazardous waste and keep accurate safety documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects to increase yield, reduce defects and optimise process reproducibility.
Qualifications
- Vocational diploma or technical certificate in metallurgy, microtechnology, chemical processes or a related discipline (e.g., CFC/Brevet professionnel) or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven practical experience with electroplating or surface treatment processes in precision manufacturing (preferably watchmaking or micro‑mechanics).
- Strong manual dexterity, fine motor skills and aptitude for repetitive, high‑precision tasks.
- Knowledge of galvanic bath management, wet chemical handling and relevant safety procedures.
- Familiarity with dimensional metrology (micrometer, profilometer) and basic optical inspection techniques.
- Methodical work ethic, rigorous attention to detail and a commitment to quality control and traceability.
