Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead eco‑design initiatives for timepieces, components and luxury packaging, embedding sustainability across concept, development and industrialisation phases.
  • Conduct and commission Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and translate results into actionable design targets and material choices.
  • Define and implement design‑for‑disassembly, repairability and circularity principles tailored to high‑precision watchmaking.
  • Collaborate with R&D, prototyping, production and procurement teams to qualify sustainable materials and supplier alternatives.
  • Develop sustainability metrics, technical specifications and documentation to support regulatory compliance and internal reporting.
  • Engage with suppliers to drive upstream improvements, audits and data collection for environmental footprint reduction.
  • Prototype and test solutions for durability, reparability and reduced environmental impact; iterate with design and manufacturing stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to cross‑functional teams on eco‑design methodologies and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering, materials science, environmental engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven experience in product eco‑design, materials assessment or LCA within a manufacturing environment; experience in luxury goods or precision engineering preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of LCA methodology and standards (ISO 14040 / ISO 14044).
  • Demonstrated ability to translate environmental analysis into concrete engineering and sourcing decisions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience coordinating R&D, procurement and external suppliers.
