Role & Responsibilities

  • Define and optimise machining methods, cutting parameters and tooling layouts for production of precision watch components.
  • Specify, test and validate cutting tools (inserts, end mills, drills, reamers) and tool holders for multi-axis CNC operations.
  • Program and simulate CNC routines in CAM, generate toolpaths and transfer validated programs to shop-floor controllers.
  • Collaborate with production, planning and quality teams to implement process improvements and ensure first‑pass yields.
  • Conduct machining trials, capture machining data, perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and maintain method sheets, setup instructions and tooling documentation for operators.
  • Perform tooling lifecycle management: monitor wear, define regrind/replacement criteria and manage tool inventory.
  • Operate precision measuring equipment to verify geometries and support continuous dimensional control.

Qualifications

  • Technical diploma or apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, precision mechanics, toolmaking or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in cutting‑tool selection and machining method definition for high‑precision components (preferably 3+ years).
  • Hands‑on experience with CNC programming and CAM workstations used for 3‑ to 5‑axis milling and turning.
  • Practical knowledge of metrology and ability to read technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, methodical approach to process documentation and continuous improvement mindset.
