Rolex in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland seeks a CAD Engineer to develop 3D models and technical drawings for precision watch components.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed 3D CAD models and assemblies for precision watch components and sub-assemblies.
  • Produce manufacturing drawings and tolerance specifications in accordance with GD&T principles.
  • Collaborate with micro-mechanics watchmakers, prototyping teams and production engineers to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet quality standards.
  • Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) entries and maintain product data within the PLM system.
  • Support prototype fabrication, oversee first-article inspections and iterate designs based on test results.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and toolmakers to transfer technical data and resolve production issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, design for manufacturability (DFM) and cost optimisation.
  • Ensure documentation compliance with internal quality procedures and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Micro-mechanics or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in 3D CAD modelling within precision engineering (preferably watchmaking or fine mechanics).
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis and geometric dimensioning for high-precision components.
  • Experience maintaining engineering data in a PLM environment and producing manufacturing-ready drawings.
  • Demonstrable ability to work cross-functionally with production, prototyping and quality teams.
  • High attention to detail, methodical problem-solving skills and commitment to craftsmanship.
  • French and/or German language skills desirable; professional working level of English advantageous.
