RIMOWA seeks a Technical Concept Developer in Cologne, Germany to drive CAD-based product concept development and mechanical design validation.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop and refine product concepts using CAD and physical models, ensuring seamless coordination and integration of all mechanical components
- Conduct technical feasibility studies, produce virtual and physical prototypes, and perform analyses to validate concept viability and mitigate technical risks
- Execute all CAD operations for concept development, maintaining data integrity and adherence to best practices within the PDM system
- Provide specialized CAD support to the Design Operations Coordinator, focusing on solving mechanical challenges and exploring feasible solutions for concept realization
- Collaborate with the Innovation team to offer CAD and concepting expertise during early-stage ideation and technical exploration phases
- Lead the structured handover of validated Concept CAD data, including comprehensive documentation and key technical decisions to the Technical Design team
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in 3D CAD modelling with strong proficiency in SolidWorks, CATIA, or comparable tools
- Demonstrated expertise in PDM systems and data management best practices
- Strong background in mechanical design and component integration with a solution-oriented approach to complex technical challenges
- Hands-on experience in prototyping, technical analysis, and feasibility assessment of product concepts
- Comprehensive understanding of materials and manufacturing processes including plastics, metals, and related technologies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across Design, Innovation, and technical teams
- Fluency in English required; German language skills beneficial
