RIMOWA seeks Senior Technical Designer in Cologne, Germany for R&D role managing product design, materials development, and component specifications.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design product architecture proposals in partnership with project managers and cross-functional teams
  • Create and validate component definition files and design justification documentation
  • Define component development schedules and budgets aligned with project objectives
  • Manage Request For Proposal processes with Purchasing and supplier partners
  • Conduct Make or Buy analyses in collaboration with Purchasing and Engineering teams
  • Oversee homologation and compliance processes for materials and components in partnership with Quality
  • Lead task forces for problem-solving across departments and with external suppliers
  • Monitor and coordinate component project communications with Project Management, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, and suppliers

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in mechanical design or related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in mechanical design
  • Proven expertise in consumer goods technical design (automotive, travel, sports, or electronic devices)
  • Advanced knowledge of major plastic and metal transformation and decoration processes
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and CAD software
  • Fluent English communication skills; German language proficiency is a strong asset

Experience
