RIMOWA seeks a Product Testing and Lab Specialist in Cologne, Germany to support product development and quality assurance through testing, analysis, and equipment management.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical, physical, chemical, and environmental tests on products and materials according to ASTM, ISO, and internal specifications
  • Prepare test specimens, materials, and equipment for various testing procedures with proper setup and calibration
  • Accurately record test results, observations, and data, noting deviations or anomalies
  • Input data into laboratory information management systems and maintain detailed, organized records
  • Conduct visual assessments and dimensional checks of samples to identify defects and deviations from design specifications
  • Prepare and create master samples according to established protocols with full traceability
  • Label, catalog, and process samples in timely manner to meet project schedules
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving of samples to and from internal and external laboratories
  • Ensure testing equipment, instrumentation, and apparatus are calibrated, maintained, and operating correctly
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, cleaning, and checks on testing instruments
  • Manage inventory of testing supplies, consumables, and materials
  • Communicate test results, findings, and assessments clearly to management and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Collaborate with technical design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to support product development
  • Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and health and safety regulations
  • Maintain clean, organized, and efficient laboratory workspace

Qualifications

  • Technical degree or apprenticeship in laboratory science, materials science, or equivalent field
  • Minimum 3 years of laboratory or product testing experience
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment (tensile testers, spectrophotometers)
  • Understanding of material properties and ability to interpret technical specifications
  • Familiarity with standard testing methodologies (ASTM, ISO)
  • Competency in basic statistical data analysis
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
