RIMOWA — Design Operations Coordinator in Cologne. Lead CAD modelling, 3D prototyping and supplier coordination for hard‑side product development.
Role & Responsibilities
- Translate 2D and rough 3D design inputs into detailed digital CAD models and iterate until Design Freeze in collaboration with design and product teams.
- Conduct product feasibility studies including section cuts, gap analysis and packaging considerations to validate manufacturability and quality.
- Produce virtual renderings, Augmented Reality models and physical mock-ups to communicate work-in-progress to stakeholders.
- Manage external partners and suppliers to deliver physical visuals, prototypes and iterations to required quality standards.
- Operate 3D printing equipment for prototype parts and perform required reworks; coordinate model-making activities.
- Coordinate product design development across project managers, prototypists, technical designers and product managers to ensure successful realization of the product vision.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years' professional experience in CAD modelling (Alias or Rhino) and product design development.
- Proven experience with development of hard-side products or components with high-quality surfaces.
- Demonstrable knowledge of integrating technical requirements into CAD models and producing section cuts and CAD analysis criteria.
- Practical experience with 3D printing and physical prototyping workflows.
- Fluency in English; German language skills are beneficial.
- Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and to coordinate cross-functional stakeholders.

At least 5 years of hands-on experience in CAD modelling (Alias or Rhino) and end-to-end product design development, preferably with hard‑side products or automotive/industrial design projects.
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
